GALAPAGOS

🌏 Where are we?

The Galápagos Islands are an archipelago located in the Pacific Ocean, specifically situated about 600 miles (965 kilometers) west of mainland Ecuador, which is in South America. The islands are part of the country of Ecuador and are known for their unique and diverse wildlife, including various species that inspired Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection. The Galápagos Islands are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular destination for ecotourism and scientific research.

☀️ Best time to visit

Warm and Wet Season (December to May):

This is considered the warmer season with higher air and water temperatures. The water is calmer and better suited for snorkelling and diving during this time. Marine life is very active, and you'll have a chance to witness animal behaviours like mating rituals and birthing. Bird species like waved albatrosses, blue-footed boobies, and frigate birds are more active. This is also the rainy season, so expect occasional showers. However, rain is usually short-lived.

Dry and Cooler Season (June to November):

This is the cooler season with lower air and water temperatures. The seas can be choppier, which might affect some water activities. Marine life is still abundant, and many species are active, including sea lions and penguins. Land bird species like finches and Galápagos hawks are more active and visible. This is the time of the famous "garúa" mist, a light drizzle that sometimes envelops the islands in the early morning. Snorkelling and diving conditions are still good, but visibility might be slightly reduced compared to the warm season.
